As long as NBC is willing to keep upping the ante every few years and they 
don't have to share their bowl revenue, there's probably not much chance 
that Notre Dame will change its mind and affiliate with a conference 
for football. 

The Big East sure isn't in a position to demand anything from them,
and the Big Ten doesn't really NEED them. 

The NY Times media market analysis seemed to indicate that the ACC might 
be a better home for them than the Big Ten, but who would see that as 
an improvement of Notre Dame's position?
