I agree with your sentiments on the Offense.

Special Teams are, well, Special! Abdullah is one smoooooth piece of work.
No fear. Needs to focus more on the ball as he has dropped/muffed a couple,
but he's young. Make no mistake, he's the reason the KO Return game is
ranked #1 at the moment. Maher is following in the footsteps of those
before him, no pun intended. He ranks # 6 in Punting with +48 yds per punt
and he's tied for 12th nationally in scoring with +12 pts/game. The over
pursuit while defending KO returns is another issue...and one that needs a
lot of attention.

For some reason, I am not too worried about the defense. I know this sounds
strange with the current rankings:

61 - Rushing Defense
49 - Pass Efficiency Defense
67 - Total Defense
66 - Scoring Defense

...but, I saw a lot of depth on the field; especially in QTR4 with a four
score (44-17) advantage. Young men, making mistakes...but you can only get
experience by doing.

Nonetheless, Sark's boyz only needed to travel 32yds, 43 yds and 52 yds for
their 3 QTR4 touchdowns. Again, there were a lot of non-starters out there
in QTR4. I doubt anyone has yet 'earned' their Blackshirt yet --- and that
is what they need...something to keep them focused and motivated. FOCUS.
FOCUS. FOCUS.

Up by 13, (44-31), I still felt that the game was in the bag. Just to be
sure, on Nebraska's final scoring drive, Beck masterfully selected the Smash
Mouth Waltz:

22 rushed right for 07 yd gain
22 rushed right for 09 yd gain
22 rushed right for 18 yd gain

...he's not going to do it again, is he?
22 rushed right for 03 yd gain.

...one more time, right? NOT!
03 waltzed to the left for 06 yd TD

Finally, last night, I saw a lot of would of/should of holding calls against
the DL, especially Crick. I personally thought the officiating was
terrible. If Nebraska would've lost all of the field position due to 9
penalties/90 yds; this list would have already posted the phone and eMail
contacts of the officiating crew. I jokingly asked my wife if Delaney has
sent a message to the crew to be sure that the Big Red came to Madison
undefeated! Now, we're only separated from the B1G TEN season by a bunch of
cowboys in Laramie.

GO BIG RED!

Where is everyone? The only thing I've seen since the end of the game is
some mild concerns about the defense, and whether the N in the field turf
was red enough. Really?

Somebody not notice the rushing game? That we ran three backs out of the
backfield, and for lots of yardage? That Rex had 120 yards rushing? Green
and Heard looked really good? That the O line that had trouble opening the
door to the fridge two weeks ago, opened real holes in a decent defensive
front? That Martinez got the message, and after the first quarter, slid
down rather than take punishment? Nobody noticed the fullback draw?????

Hello? tink-tink-tink I'm knocking on the screen but I don't see anything.
Everyone must have taken the weekend off. To me, the offense looked like
what I had been led to believe they'd looked like. I'm extremely pleased.
Bo sounded that way too. All is good, right?

Nick
