I don't think the pinky finger gets used on most hand held devices.
Even heavily wrapped it may not get in the way.  

The shot they shows on TV did remind me of the Joe Garagiola line about 
the two retired major league catchers who shook hands and it took the 
paramedics a half hour to untangle their fingers.
