In the interest of not hurting any feelings, let me begin with:

You have all lost your freaking minds!

What's going on with all this jabber about how cool or how ugly the costumes of Oregon or Maryland or Podunk are?  It doesn't matter what they are.  What matters is what Nebraska is!

Nebraska
 is THE Scarlet and THE Cream!   Don't forget that!

The Blackshirts, Trainwreck Tom, Mr Touchdown, The Prairie Fire and T-Magic are all just gimmicks, fads, passing fancies that romance us around  to spark the flames of our passion!

When the football fans all over the country see and hear theScarlet and Cream rumble onto the field, they KNOW who it is . .  and in the worst of them, just that presence sends a little thrill through their hearts!

To Hell with those thoroughbred racehorse lookalikes in their shiny jet black tights with yellow and chartreuse fluorescent decorations!   There are no deathless memories there.   When the fans see the Scarlet and Cream they know the ghosts of Flippin, Chamberlin, Weir, and Novak are storming onto the field with them.   Bobby Reynolds and Bob Brown, Mike and Turner and Johhny the jet, are there arm-in-arm with Brook and Tommy and Eric and Joe Ganz!   History comes onto the gridiron and it is always recognizable . . . it is ALWAYS the Scarlet and Cream.
