Current policy is to purchase student ticket then have that ticket validated at the ticket office. The student ticket holder has to present his/her N card and the purchaser has to pay the difference between the face value of the student ticket (about $21 last year) and the cost of an equivalent public ticket. A pain but necessary.

Back in the dark ages (the early 80s), freshmen couldn't buy tickets until the beginning of school. Freshmen got the leftovers and if they ran out, sorrry. Sophomores, junior and seniors could get in the ticket lottery in the spring. If you didn't pick up your tickets by the end of the first week of school, you didn't get them. Of course, back then you didn't have to pay for them until you got them. I don't know if that's still the case with student tickets, but staff/faculty tickets have to be paid for early April (that used to be end of May).

I too believe that students should have the oppritunity to purchase tickets, but you don't have a right to one. I also understand that student ticket demand has decreased over the years which is probably directly linked to the increased cost of those tickets. Back in the dark ages, it seem like everything I bought from the U cost me $40. My parking permit was $40 a year, a basketball season ticket was $40 and the football ticket was $5 a game or.... $40.

By the way, what is the policy for selling student tickets? Way back when, you didn't have a photo student ID but you had to show that ID when you went to the game. Non-student getting in on student tickets was a common occurence.
