I don't think it was much of an apology. He didn't apologize for giving Pelini and Martinez and ultimatum to name somebody else the starting quarterback, even though there are no challengers to Martinez's starting position. All he apologized was for is criticizing Martinez for some off the field stuff.
I think someone high up at the World-Herald insisted on an apology from Chatelain. Otherwise, I don't see the value in posting this and reopening the debate.

I'd say it was an apology, not sort of, although he did try to mitigate
with context. Saying you did wrong is seldome easy, especially in such
a public way. I don't read his columns, but that one seemed well done.
