[Husker] Bo's future

Are people kidding about Bo building up good will by treating the
press better?

Many NU fans talked about firing Devaney after a couple of 6-4
seasons and were ready to fire Osborne when he lost several
years in a row to OU and again when he was only winning 9 games
per year, but losing the big games. NU (well at least SP) fired
Solich at the end of a 9-3 regular season on the way to a 10-3
record.

If Bo wins (and not just 9 games a year), then he will be welcome
to stay. If he doesn't, then he won't. Either way, it won't
matter how he treats the press or even the fans (within reason).

Bo recently said something about the Nebraska way, where you value
loyalty, hard work, and face your shortcomings head on to get better.
I'd like to think that is the Nebraska way --- at least I thought
that's what it was until SP fired Solich. But many fans and much
of the media people don't think that way. If the kid or the team
isn't up to expectations, then boo him. If the coach isn't up to
expectations, fire him. Those are the easy answers, not the hard
work of getting to the top.

How much does Bo owe to such fans and such media people? Loyalty?
Like they'd be loyal to him and his players?

Let's be honest, Bo's future doesn't depend on how he treats fans
or media people: it isn't more than winning; it's all about winning.

I often don't like how Bo acts, but frankly, I'm less bothered by Bo
being shabby to shabby fans and sports writers than I am about what
shabby fans and sports writers show about the "Nebraska way".
