[Husker] Press Conference (LONG)

I'm a Green fan. I think he was the most complete QB, but he lacked the homerun option that TM has with his feet. If Green was afforded the same time and patience that TM was/is he would be a well respected QB. Yes he fumbled, but so does TM. The difference was that every time Green had a turn over he got pulled. Conversely, TM never was. Green was held to a higher standard all the while getting fewer practice snaps. Granted this is just my opinion (which we know what those are like and worth), But I just think Green offered more intangibles (leadership, personality) and was further in the progression of being a QB. TM had speed and raw potential.

I bet Pelini could have come up with similar answers if he had days to make his reponses rather than seconds. How often have you had a discussion with someone and answered one way and later wished you would have said something else? I know I sure have!
> As for Cody Green, he is an outstanding young man but not that great a quarterback for the system Pelini wants to use. I have season DVD's of the games from the last 15 years and have watched them numerous times. Almost every time Cody went in, he fumbled. He wasn't much of a runner either. When Taylor was injured last year, Cody had the opportunity to take over and replace Taylor. He did not succeed and Taylor was put back in as soon as possible even though he had not healed.
> The things that Pelini is critisized for are the same things that make him a good coach. The kids respond to his personality. They know he has their backs. I am not a Bill Purcell's fan but I always admired the way he handled the media. You have to admit they can ask some really stupid questions. By the way, Pelini was very civil to Chatelain in answering a question he asked during the Big 10 press conference yesterday. Maybe the Chatelain/Pelini feud is over. Let's hope so!
