[Husker] husker Digest, Vol 8, Issue 314

I have to agree with Karre,

TM had some PR issues last year and it is still baggage that he is carrying. Not
sure it was completely warranted, but I am afraid we Husker fans aren't giving
him much of a chance to grow. He is only a sophmore and one of the announcers
said something about TM only playing QB 3 1/2 years. If that is true, the we
need to back off a bit.

I am in Michigan and have watched Terrell Pryor and Denard Robinson during their
first collegiate experience. They weren't world beaters their first couple
years.

So, TM is our QB and we should give him some mercy. Remember, some of the kids
read this list and it travels through the team lockers.

Plus, we measure players by their whole game, not the first game, nor just one
game,.... even a very bad game.

TM gets my support because he has Pellini's support.

So............ I agree with Dick Karre here.

Not in my courtroom: 16-22 passing for 191 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT; 17
rushes for 102 and a TD - against a good defense.

I think Baptiste is for real.

I have been VERY critical of TM time and time again. I give him all the
credit in the world, he's played GREAT tonight (except one throw).

Of course, give Beck credit for calling a game that is much more to his
strengths. Short passes, move the chains. Not to mention they CLEARLY
focused on the check down.

KEEP IT GOING BOYS!!! HOLY CRAP!!! I thought we were done a long time ago.

Trying to be politically correct. The winner can boast about being the
worlds tallest oompa loompa :)

Clearly something is missing on defense. Is it Marvin Sanders? Is it
just a young D? I don't know but the product on the field is wildly up
and down. Strangely I don't feel quite as bad about the offense.

I've never seen a fundamentally unsound Pellini defense so this is new
ground.

David is the real deal. Burkhead is the real deal.

I was impressed with the move of Baptist (and did it pay off).

T-Mart, I think the jury is out. I didn't see anything that convinced me he
is the man. I have been neutral on him all year and stay neutral. I was very
negative on him in the first half. He still is inconsistent in making
decisions. He still goes down easily when hit. He indecisive on the run. He
will still slide for the first down...if he wants to be a running QB, he
runs it out. His throwing is awful, I swear my daughter has a better
throwing action.

No insults...I don't think the etoh was at fault. We were awful in the 1st
half. I am not sure how we pulled that one out, but I am thankful.

Somebody must be telling Martinez to slide - or at least to try - so that is on
the coaches and their complete lack of trust in the backup. Big win and maybe
this is the one to build on. GBR.

?
Nah, I think we are all overly passionate during the throws of the game.
?
Did Pelini take over the play calling in the second half? Big difference for
Burkhead between 10 yards first half and over 100 second!

?
Also, was happy to hear the announcers talking?Rex up.
?
Gawd Martinez' passing is scary bad! Gives me the shivers!

The second half was the polar opposite of the first. If the D can make some
stops this offense can do some damage. Ohio State doesn't have lackies on
defense so this was impressive.

Nope they were rated #23 on run defense, 25 on pass efficiency defense and
the number 13 overall defense at 285 yards per game. Their defense is well
above average.
