It goes back even further than that. In 1978, after Tom Osborne
FINALLY beat Oklahoma, the Huskers lost to Missouri in Lincoln the
next week, setting up that crappy rematch in the Orange Bowl.
People were calling for Osborne's firing! (And he seriously considered
taking the Colorado job that was offered to him!)
People forget that Devaney wasn't always lionized during his tenure,
either.
