[Husker] Why is it?

You hit that nail on the head. I remember the melt downs everyone had during
Scott Frost's first season and the debacle in Tempe. Its probably hard for
some to remember but Charlie McBride faced a lot of derision at some points
until the dominant streak in the mid 90's. Remember when the joke was that
Charlie should be charged with check fraud for cashing them "under false
pretenses".

When I moved to Nebraska in 1983 my first exposure to a Husker fan was
someone cursing Osborne's decision to go for two "something has to be done
about that guy" or something to that effect.

I may be a total minority but I like Time Beck. I've met him, listened to
him speak and see sparks here and there that I like. The defense to me is
the bigger of the disappointments as this has been something the Pelini era
has always hung it's hat on. It has been the fundamental identity. We had
some atrocious offensive output in recent years but the defense was our
saving grace. If that is broken then the new offense will face undue stress.
Add the fact that we've made a violent conference change and things aren't
looking very pretty. Anyone talking about adding coaching changes to all
that should have their head examined.

Hopefully we will see adjustments on both sides that make it possible to be
competitive and not fall totally flat in the B1G. Best case? Finding the
chemistry and leadership on both sides of the ball and facing the Badgers in
the championship. Best best case and the stuff movies are made of? Get there
and ruin their season. We've had the sour now let's hope for the sweet.
