[Husker] about Cosgrove and my not-so-secret-plan to save the season

I think even more pressing an issue with Martinez is the amount of huge hits he takes- I don't think I've ever seen a quarterback (or any offensive skill player for that matter) get lit up more than he does, especially for a guy with so much breakaway speed. If he doesn't improve his elusiveness (it can only go up at this point, he has zero) we will see Carnes sooner than later by necessity not by coaches' choice.

To steal a well-worn phrase from an old time B1G coach:   "Not so fast, my friend!"

I have to assume you are referring to the Minnesota game when you say we'll be seeing Kevin in a couple of weeks . . .  'fraid not.   The Gophers were a lot quicker to spot his problems than we were and sent him packing after just a couple of seasons.

He is now at Akron and sounds happy as a clam about it!    His selective memory which seems to have blotted out 2006 and 2007, has deluded him into being unable to understand the Husker fans' impatience with him.   He can't fathom that there could have been a reason to fire him.

(I still awaken in tears from nightmares of 70 - 10 in Lubbock!)

But now it's time to talk about last night . . . the consensus appears to be that young Martinez isn't up to the job.    That may be.   So what can Bo do about it?
I have this hokey fantasy of the 'Skers lining up in some mutated form of the Wildcat.  Rex in a shotgun waiting for the snap, two tackles and a gaggle of nervous linebackers trying to keep track of T-Mobil who is shifting around in any one of half a dozen positions out there dangerously  close to the open field and chittering at them the way a streaky shortstop on second base yammers at a nervous pitcher!   What's going to happen?   Will it be a dump pass to the ex-QB in the flat, an option to an already open Martinez, a reverse maybe ending in a deep pass from Martinez to Turner for the TD . . . or will everybody end up chasing T-Magic or T-Rex on a sweep?    Confusion?   I love it!

Just get these guys in a position to run and let 'er rip!    Save those dying swan lobs and behind-the-receiver bullets that nobody can catch for the Heisman-posing-drills at photo-op time!   The voters don't care about a guy's form or motion!   If they did would they have given Eric the worlds ugliest paperweight?

And that's all I have to say about that.

Dick

ps:   About the defense:   We've seen the best we are going to see, so relax and have a nice season!
