I agree. I heard enough from Bill Callahan to form my own opinion of him.
Same with Bo Pelini, I've heard plenty to form an opinion of him. And I
agree about what Pelini has accomplished. He came in to a defense that was
a complete mess. Looked at his players, saw what they could do, put them
in the right places, devised the right schemes, and coached the hell out of
them And the same players became an outstanding defense. Now of course
having Endahmikin was a big part of the success, but Pelini knew what he
had and what to do with it.
Offenses under Pelini? Overall...bad. This year at least they looked more
like they knew what they were trying to do. Not great success...but they
looked more organized and like they had some kind of purpose and plan. By
the end of last year, I thought these guys had no clue what was going on.
I posted pre-season that I thought all the talk of winning the division and
conference was too optimistic and that a 9-3 season was a good, solid first
season in the Big10 with this team and that I hoped we'd win some big
games. We did those things and I still feel that way. I really enjoyed
the season in spite of the Wisc and Michigan games. I think the lowest I
felt all season was about 5 minutes into the third quarter of the Ohio
State game. My trip to Lincoln this year was for MIchigan State and that
was awesome. I call the Iowa game the Tryptophan game cause it was putting
me to sleep more than overeating turkey. I just find Iowa to be a boring
opponent and it's gonna take more than that for a rivalry to heat up. Team
played ok....but they looked sorta tired too.
Bowl game? Ugh. If we must I suppose. Can't wait until September.
