Is Shatel a lurker on this list? He reiterates a lot of the comments/concerns already hashed out here over the past few weeks.

I do not believe that Tom Osborne will get rid of Bo Pelini, remember all the uproar about canning a 9-3 coach when Frank Solich was fired. I do not think that Nebraska can afford a reputation of firing winning coaches. And remember both Frank Solich and Bo Pelini were hand picked by Tom Osborne, so if any one believes that either deserved to be fired it was Tom Osborne's poor judgment the was responsible for their hiring. Does anyone really want to go there?

The break downs at the Wisconsin and Michigan games showed me two things. First, this is what can happen to young teams, and Nebraska is a young team. Secondly, home field advantage is huge in the B1G. Nebraska was not at the Kansas, Kansas State, Colorado, or Iowa State of old. Wisconsin is playing in the B1G Championship and I always felt that Michigan was the wild card in the Legends Division.

Michigan was very hungry for wins and their new coach got them playing out of their minds and they had success. The real test for Michigan is will they win next year and the year after that and the year after that. It happened as UofA when Mike Stoops took over, it happened at ASU when Dennis Erickson took over. There are other examples of this happening, you just have to look around.

What has impressed me about Coach Pelini is the consistency in which he has won. As I have posted before, they win their bowl game and it is another 10 win season. Again, I do not understand all the grousing about this season. There were several big of unknowns: first time in the B1G with players that were essentially recruited for the Big-XII and a new offensive coordinator. I do not know if Nebraska has still determined their offensive identity yet. But be patient with the process.

As I posted previously, Nebraska should get better next season and then the season after that with Wisconsin and Ohio State out the picture Nebraska should even better success.

If Urban Meyer does go to Ohio State then we will see how good he really is. He walked into an ideal situation at Florida, as did Bobby Stoops at Oklahoma. Ohio State right now is more like how Nebraska was when Bo Pelini took over than Florida and even though Ohio has fertile ground to recruit from it is no Florida.

Be thankful for the past four seasons true believers and look ahead to the next hopefully several decades with Bo Pelini at the helm.

Go B1G Red!
