What is it they say about statistics, oh yeah, "lies, damn lies, and statistics". Nebraska had a good running back in Roy Helu, Jr (who never fumbled as Husker) that is playing fairly well on a Washington Redskins team (Washington for those of you in Lincoln that read the Lincoln Journal Star) that is not playing very well. So, they had two running backs to carry the load when Taylor Martinez was injured. Although, the receiving core has been about the same. I thought that the tight ends played better last year. Personally, I would put Ron Brown back at receivers coach, then I think you'd see less dropped balls (but that is Coach Pelini's decision, not mine. Ron Brown did a heck of a job as receivers coach for Coaches Osborne and Solich.).

I have not looked at the box scores, but I would guess that a lot of Nebraska's stats came early in the season and if the first have were compared to the last half it would be two different stories.

In my opinion it is comparing apples and oranges. There is a new offense, and a new conference. So, Nebraska is going through a lot of changes on offense, so lower statistics should not be too surprising. However, Nebraska has a good record.

Even though mistakes led to two blow out losses, those games were winnable. Nebraska did not take Northwestern seriously and got upset, so even that game was winnable (my brother who lives in Omaha, that one of the lineman (I do not know if the lineman was on the offense or defense) stated that he did not even watch film).

As I posted previously, it Nebraska beats Iowa and wins their bowl game they will have yet another 10 win season. This would be three in a row for Coach Pelini after an initial season of 9-4.

I really do not understand all the grousing about this year's team. I admit that during the games I am screaming at the TV as I am sure that most of us do, but that is part of the 'fun' of watching football. After the game is over we have to sit back and take an objective look at how they played and look at the entire season.

I still say the Nebraska will bring the heat and crush Iowa tomorrow.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Go B1G Red!
