Heck even if, when BC responding to a question about halftime adjustments and said "it's technical " could have replied with "we made several subtle adjustments that you would only notice by studying the film " - he probably would have gotten a pass.

Many people may forget (or aren't old enough to remember), but for about 
the first half of Tom Osborne's coaching career, there were repeated 
laments about how bad he was at public speaking.  

Because Bob Devaney was still around to schmooze the Rotary Clubs, it 
wasn't a big deal.  TO also had assistant coaches he would send
out.
