[Husker] Follow up Comments on my "Hot Seat" Statement

If Nebraska would have stayed in the Big XII, the Huskers would not have played Oklahoma, and would have played Okie State in Lincoln.  Here's my take:

@ Kansas:  W
Kansas State:  toss-up
Iowa State:  W
Missouri:  probable W
Colorado:  W

Oklahoma State: toss-up
Texas A&M:  W
@ Texas:  probable W

So yes, I think Nebraska probably would have had a better record...if only because Nebraska's coaching staff already has a baseline understanding of each opponent.  This season, Nebraska had to scout out and scheme against 11 new, unfamiliar opponents.  That unfamiliarity probably played a bit of a role this season in Nebraska's struggles this season.

Hey David / List,

I've had a lot of similar thoughts regarding our switching conferences and
the impact it might have on our success… but, here's the trick: Do you
think we'd fare well in this year's B12?  Could we stop Oklahoma or Okie
Lite?  Baylor or K-State, even? I think we'd be… maybe in the same position
we are now in the B1G:  above average, but not much above average.  The
inexperience in our secondary would be even more glaring.  Still not a lot
of pressure from our front.

Obviously i'm speculating, but…  it's hard to say we were set up to do
better in our old league.  So, I can't really give our coaches that much of
a pass.

Another thought:
* I know cross-sport analogies are bad news, but... The Pelinis and their
defensive schemes remind me of the major league prospect who has great
power but "can't hit the curve" - where our 'curve' is the mobile
quarterback.

GBR,
