Additionally I recall the water balloon "attacks" on 16th Street traffic when spring arrived. There were a few times that got a little bit out of hand. One of Lincoln's finest parked his car in our driveway with light flashing and siren blaring, got out, drew his weapon and started chasing someone who had thrown a water balloon at his car.
So naturally, someone locked his door and closed it with the engine running, lights and siren on. When he came back with his handcuffed scofflaw, he was rather upset, much to the delight of the gathering crowd.
Those were the days. :-)
