[Husker] NU vs. PSU

I'm a low-ranking amateur when it comes to understanding all there is with football.

That said, here's why I'm saying this will be tougher for Nebraska. If I'm Pellini, I'm thinking keep it simple. We're on the road in a stadium that is ordinarily raucous and will be even more so this Saturday. Crowd noise will be a huge factor, plus I want my players to focus. So let's take what we do well, do it exceptionally well and do a lot of it. We all have a pretty good sense what that is. And so does Penn State.

If I'm Penn State this game is suddenly "huger" than any game in recent memory. Joe Pa's last home game. Winning the game isn't going to make the tragedy go away, but it will be a welcome distraction for a few hours. If I'm Joe, the assistants, the players... I have more at stake, and I'm throwing the kitchen sink into the game plan. There will be more of a "whatever it takes/us versus them" sense of urgency. How does Bo prepare for that? What does he prepare for exactly?

The dynamics are very sharp either way; both teams can find advantages and problems in this hyper-crazy environment. It just feels like Penn State has a whole lot more to play for. Whether that translates into a win is another matter. I hope I'm wrong.

Figuring out how to prepare the team and players for a game like this is interesting, for both schools.

I wonder if having been the interim coach for Nebraska in the 2003 Alamo Bowl will give Bo any insights?
