The reason that the offense only scored 25 points is that the defense
allowed the Northwestern offense to hold the ball for more than 34
minutes and rack up 25 first downs and nearly 500yds of total offense.
Martinez was on the mark on almost every pass. He was 28-37, better
than 75%, with zero interceptions and I remember at least three dropped
passes that were nearly perfect --- two to Bell and one to Kinnie.
The only bad one I can remember was throwing it into his blocker's back.
He had a couple of nice scrambles too. People have been all over
Martinez this year, sometimes with justification, but he played a great
game Saturday and deserves credit, not lousy fans who call a great
performance "mediocre". To what little extent the offense struggled
--- fumbles by Burkhead and Quincy, dropped passes, and penalties ---
it most certainly wasn't Martinez' fault.
