[Husker] Some initial coaching search tidbits

I wouldn't complain either, but it comes from continually finishing second to
Texas. (I recall a comment about Augie Garrido having the private parts of
Childress in a jar on his desk...)
If Husker fans dislike losing to Texas, I can only imagine what that's like for
Aggies...

Much to my surprise (and contrary to what I thought), I have been told that
Childress would have been interested if we were still in the Big XII. I don’t
know if that’s true or not, but he would be a great hire any way you slice it.
You have to be some kind of idiot if you fire him from aTm tho. They finished
#2 in the Big XII and will host a regional easily. Whomever that Aggie blogger
is, he’s not very bright.
I wouldn’t complain. At all.

I've speculated on Rob Childress, and here's my take on that. A Texas A&M blog
has been rather critical of Childress, suggesting that if the Aggies don't make
it to Omaha this season, Dollar Bill Byrne should admit he made a mistake and
fire him.
Now, I don't know if that's just a crackpot Aggie blogger trying to start
something or what... but if that's representative of the mood around Texas A&M
supporters, then I could see him being interested in returning to Lincoln to be
rid of that circus.

There has been some STRONG interest in the Nebraska job from a lot of top
candidates. Here are some names that have expressed interest in us, in my
favorite order.
1] Can't say - Sorry, I promised the person that told me I'd keep it quiet.
But there's someone who's ahead of all of them who has expressed interest,
but I wanted you to know there was someone in this spot :)
2] Chad Holbrook, asst @ #1 SC Gamecocks <--- One of my favorites. He's an
INCREDIBLE recruiter. Named #10 recruiter in all of college sports by ESPN.
And he's probably as good of a hitting coach as he is recruiter. He may be
#1 on Tennessee's list tho too and tough to pull out of the SEC.

3] Todd Butler, asst @ Arkansas
4] Will Bolt
Names brought up by others, not sure of interest, in my fav order:
1] Rob Childress (would be behind Chad Holbrook if I knew he was interested)
2] Rob Walton, pitching coach Oral Roberts <--- Doubt his interest, but he
would be a steal
3] Tim Tadlock, asst @ OU <--- Took a JUCO team to 2 national titles, great
recruiter and has coached OU hitters (consistently top 10 nationally hitting
team)
4] Ty Harrington, head coach Texas State <--- Took Texas State to back to
back regionals, not easy to do.
