Agree with Jon. This really will be interesting to see what comes down.
Emmert has done a terrible job so far. I never remember the NCAA being
under this kind of criticism before...except for being too harsh and being
too secretive. So Emmert says they need to be more "transparent" and the
Newton and OSU 5 cases have been a disaster. Now a head coach has been
caught violating 10.1 - Unethical Behavior - not just a head coach, one that
is borderline canonized. This is a major infraction - it goes to honesty and
character and ethics - all of which Tressel himself believes he stands for
(he writes books telling others how to behave as well as he does). Here is
a hypothetical:
If Pelini had committed these same violations, covering up and then lying
about it, which are also stated explicitly in his contract, would Tom
Osborne ask for his resignation? I think a 50-50 chance he would be gone.
