[Husker] Baseball

Man Tony, you're reading my mind. I was going to send one out today :)

For college baseball fans, today is a "take a 1/2 day or call in sick"
because this series is a big deal.

Remember in the 90's when teams like the Clippers would advertise that
Michael Jordan's coming to town to sell tickets? Well, this afternoon
Gerrit Cole Jr. will become the best college pitcher to ever step foot on
the mound at Haymarket Park (in my opinion, with all due respect to Joba and
Komine). Gerrit is challenging Matt Purke (TCU) as the best pitching
prospect in the upcoming draft. Both will probably go in the first 5-10
picks. He is that good.

The unfortunate thing for the Huskers is, their Saturday starter is also a
projected first rounder and their Sunday starter is a freshman stud who has
a 0.66 ERA so far this year. Bottom line, if the team scores double digit
runs this weekend, Erstad's doing a good job.

UCLA comes in ranked #5 in the country after making it to the CWS
championship last year and they didn't lose a step. Last year, we had a
good shot at beating them in 2 out of the games in L.A., but ended up
getting swept. If we win 1 this weekend, it's a good weekend. Maybe the
chilly temps will give us an advantage :)

For Nebraska, the bats are going good....so far. Kash is all of the sudden
on a tear and the team is hitting .340 on the early season. So, we'll see
how that stacks up to some real legit pitching this weekend.

There's been quite the shake up in the rotation for this weekend. True
frosh Jon Keller will go today (who is very good in his own right if he can
throw strikes) and Senior Matt Freeman will go tomorrow after starting on
Wednesday (only threw 27 pitches tho) with Sunday's starter not yet
announced (probably Lemke).

All in all, if you can make it out to Haymarket today and brave the weather,
it will probably be worth it.

It's UCLA game day Skylar could you give us a look at the Bruins and what
you think the Huskers chances are. Just heard on SN archive that Keller,
Freeman and TBA. Looks like Erstad is having an effect on the hitters,
What's your take ?
