Really, Mike?  In what other profession are you told: work here for
this company or else no other company in the business will hire you?

I understand the NFL's desire for spreading the talent, but about all
workers can do in such circumstances is threaten to withhold services,
which Elway did (and he was not under contract).  Even doing that, at
risk of his opportunity to work in the profession, Elway couldn't get
more than he what an employer was willing to pay him.  And, his
judgment about his worth was vindicated both when he got the contract
he wanted and when he played under that contract.

Surely, you don't begrudge a man to control who he works for do you?
