[Husker] Kind of sad.....

After reading through the replies to this thread, I guess I'm in the minority here, but I can't even believe this is being written about at all. Lisa Horne (the reporter) called the kid's response to her telling him Pelini said it was a joke "gut wrenching". Are you effing kidding me? Gut wrenching? What's gut wrenching to me is that this sad excuse for a writer has brought attention to an issue that could have easily been handled in house, and in all likelihood would have been until this ridiculous story. I'm thankful to the kid for his service to the country but there are people who would give their right arm to stand on the sideline at a Nebraska game, and wouldn't feel like they just found out there is no tooth fairy when the big mean coach didn't let them call a play, no matter what said in some contrived PR stunt earlier. In fact, I bet this kid would have been pissed for two or three days and then forgot all about it and started getting ready for next year once he got a call from TO inviting him to the Ohio State game, until this joke for a story came out. Love how she waxes patriotic in the beginning of the article too, so people will hate Pelini even more when they find out he pissed on this kids baseball cards and apple pie. What a joke.

At the beginning of the season I thought it was odd that Pelini always gave quick, almost dis-interested answers to the many inane questions reporters shot at him, but now I think I understand why he is such a prick to the media. And I don't blame him one bit. Lisa Horne is a hack, plain and simple.

Oh, and have I mentioned how great it felt to put David Strong in my deleted senders list?

Folks you'd have to be naive to think you'd be calling a play. My read
of this was that the reporter was muck stirring.

I don't see any moral issues here just a coach making a joke in the
context of the moment. The guy got a sideline pass and that's nothing
to sneeze at.
