[Husker] A few random thoughts about Husker baseball

Sorry to inject, but football's over and I'm too scared to get optimistic
about basketball until after the Big XII season's about 1/2 way done.

First, College Baseball Newspaper put out their preseason top 40 and
Nebraska came in about #52 (others receiving votes).

That would put us 8th in the Big XII. For some perspective on baseball's
future, that would put us #1 in the Big Ten. Yikes.

This season will be interesting as it's tough to fill out our future lineup.

Someone's going to have to move to the outfield which is probably Kiser (2nd
/ DH last year).

If I had to guess the starting lineup:

C - Tolentino / Burleson
1B - Scheffert / Miller (Frosh)
2B - Peters / Kalkowski
SS - Christensen
3B - Asche (if healthy) / Farmer
LF - Kiser
CF - Khiry (hope he can hit a breaking ball this year)
RF - ??? I honestly don't know. Boomer Collins?

Rotation:
Lemke
Hauptman (hopefully they leave him as a starter this year)
Ehlers / Neiderklein / Tate (whoever steps up)

I honestly think we'll finish somewhere between 7th and 10th in the Big XII.
We have very little depth in the outfield and we're going to give some
serious PT to either a frosh or someone who changes position.

Hopefully Anderson lets Erstad teach these kids how to hit and be aggressive
at the plate and...gasp...teaches Khiry how to hit an off-speed pitch.

Enjoy!
