> OK while we all know how Pederson handled situation with Solich (and later Wannestadt at Pitt) that wasn't my point. My point (and the only issue I specifically mentioned) was that Pederson could not have seen this coming with this new hire. As far as "telling statements" if guilt is going to be assigned by these types of statements being inaccurate then there are a lot of guilty people around because you know as well as I do that many people have made statements similar to this only to have them be proven untrue or inaccurate.
I mostly agree with you, though we don't know the extent to which
Pederson looked into the background of his new coach.
A close friend (and attorney) has worked profesionally with battered
women, more often than not these are not isolated incidents, especially
if this one was serious enough to file a felony charge as opposed
to a misdemeanor charge. It also sounds from the reports like this
is part of an ongoing custody situation.
At times the records of domestic incidents are sealed, so even a
criminal background check might not have turned anything up, though
I suspect the media is doing those checks anyway.
I suspect the next coach at Pitt will be vetted VERY thoroughly, both
by the Pitt administration and by the media.
