I can't wait. I'll be listening at my desk!!!

Not sure if many pay attention to it, but the bats went through a massive change
for this year. All bats, metal or composite must meet a .5 BPF. A .5 BPF (Bat
Performance factor) is what a wood bat has. This is a huge change and you will
hear a totally different sound when the ball is hit, and a big drop-off in home
runs.

Personally, I think this is long overdue.

Along with this, almost all of the youth baseball sanctioning bodies have
started restricting composite bats for official sanctioned play. At HS baseball
and below, a 1.15 BPF is followed, but Little League, USSSA, etc have found that
most composite bats exceed 1.15, even though they are listed as 1.15, especially
when they are broken in and hit their prime. Starting this year, Little League
and many others have banned a huge selection of composite bats, and starting in
2012, USSSA is doing like-wise.

I'm very glad to see them starting to restrict the power that the non-wood bats
have. It's just crazy seeing how the ball jumps off those bats. Dangerous
situation.
