I gotta say I really don't think any coach owes anything to the media or the
ublic. As a Husker fan, I have no specific right to know who is starting at
ny position before kickoff. It also does not bother me at all not knowing who
s starting at what positions. I also do not have a right to know who is going
o be on the coaching staff next year and the media does not have a right to
imely press conferences where the coach tells all.
While I find it interesting to speculate who will be the new OC, and I have the
ight and reserve the right to not like the current OC and wish him to not be on
the team, I do not have a right to know anything on the inside, and that
ncludes getting an answer from the coach on the question on if the current OC
s going to be replaced.
Fans and media simply do not have "rights" like this. I understand some fans
re so "fanatical" that they feel they are part owners of the team, but I feel
he simple fact of the matter is we are not part owners, even of the Huskers,
ho play football for a state, publicly funded University. I'm no more of a
art owner of the UNL Huskers than I am of the UNK Lopers or the UNO Mavs or
ayne State or Chadron State

n the very first example I laid out.
onday before the Big XII Champ
e won't decide who's starting until Friday or Saturday" (Paraphrased)
fter the Big XII Champ
e knew Monday morning, I just didn't want you guys to know".
hat is a flat out lie and a straight admission to it after the game.

nd I've shown where not only has he flat lied, but admitted as much.
teresting he can admit it and others can't.
n a side note, I was raised that 'technically' not lying is pretty much the
me as lying. But that's just me.

nsofar as drinking the "cool-aid", I have been critical on this list
Bo's demeanor with the press and otherwise. While he is understandably
gravated by reporters or officials etc., he needs to exhibit more
lf-control.
owever, your claim that he lies over and over is unsupported by what
u write. Every example that you presented doesn't support your claim,
I and others have pointed out. I addressed previously your example
out not knowing the starter until the first play of the game ---
at is true of anyone who isn't claivoyant. So, Bo was not lying.
milarly, someone isn't hired until the contracts have been signed,
en if there are understandings as to the critical aspects of the
ntract.
n my opinion, you feel pretty free to throw around pretty strong
rds --- such as lying --- without much or even any evidence. Does
tell reporters everything, e.g., that they planned to start Martinez
that they plan to hire a coach? No, he doesn't. But, that isn't
ing --- at least as I understand what lying is. There are times
en sticking to what facts suit you --- such as the _fact_ that events
ch as an injury could change the starter or the _fact_ that the contract
dn't been signed ergo no one had been hired --- is the sensible course
action.
> Scott, let me reiterate AGAIN. I have ABSOLUTELY ZERO PROBLEM with Bo
olding things back from the media. NONE. NOT A SINGLE BIT. I
rsonally
ave no problem flipping on the game Saturday and finding out who the
tarting QB is when the offense takes over for the first time. NONE AT
L.
There's a HUGE difference between holding things back and flat out lying
he media. And even if every once in a while he was just doing a little
gamesmanship' with the opposing coaches, I could deal with that. That's
ot what we're dealing with.
