[Husker] Shatel: Pelini Making Calls to NFL for Watson

Scott, let me reiterate AGAIN. I have ABSOLUTELY ZERO PROBLEM with Bo
holding things back from the media. NONE. NOT A SINGLE BIT. I personally
have no problem flipping on the game Saturday and finding out who the
starting QB is when the offense takes over for the first time. NONE AT ALL.
There's a HUGE difference between holding things back and flat out lying to
the media. And even if every once in a while he was just doing a little
'gamesmanship' with the opposing coaches, I could deal with that. That's
not what we're dealing with.

Why would ANY fans need to know who specifically was going to be on the
field that particular week before the game? Or the media for that matter? We
will ALL find out once the ball is kicked on Saturday, and that's fine with
me. The players all know because the players SHOULD know. In fact, coaches
never want to give the opposition any help by telling them who is playing,
and unless they are obligated by rule to do so, I don't blame them one bit
for being evasive about it.

I see nothing in your post to support your extreme contentions of
"propensity to flat out lie ... OVER and OVER."
In fact, even your centerpiece example doesn't support your insult.
If the question was, as you write: "Who's starting QB on Saturday."
Then, the answer: "I'm not sure yet." is fully accurate, because as
you quote Pelini later: "You never know, things can change throughout
the week." For example, in a contact sport, injuries are common.
In dealing with young men, rules violations and eve legal incidents
occur. It sounds to me as if it was just as Pelini said: the coaches
were planning to start Martinez but didn't want to have it in the
media, so he said he wasn't sure who would start because things can
change. And, that's the truth, not a lie.
If the examples of "OVER and OVER" "lies" that your "good sources"
told you about are as solid as this one, then I suggest you should
spare yourself the effort of writing about them and us the trouble
of reading and dismissing them.
