Pete Thamel confirms it, as does Iowa AD Gary Barta: The B1G will stay at 8 conference games each year. The Pac-12 game will replace the 9th conference game.

That means there will be 8 B1G games for the Huskers, 1 Pac-12 opponent, and three other non-conference games. Iowa has stated they'll still play Iowa State each season. Would Nebraska still look to play another BCS conference opponent in those three games? I certainly hope so, though it might be a case where it's a Vanderbilt or Syracuse if a USC is on the schedule the same year.

Sounds like the
B1G is going to revisit the 9 game conference schedule and may go back to 8 with this new deal. The PAC 12 sounds like they are still going to go to a 9 game conference scheduel

A further tie-up between the Big Ten and the Pac 12 is stupid, IMHO, for
the reason given above.
There is no guarantee that a playoff would involve any home games, in fact
a strong argument could be made against it just on the basis of weather
conditions. The problem is that 'neutral sites' might not be all that
neutral and/or ticket sales might suffer. But are ticket sales going to
be relevant in a playoff if ESPN or other networks are in the driver's
seat? I rather doubt it.
