I thought that the Nebraska rule was the inclusion of a multiplier added for the conference championships. But AL was still quite a ways a head. 

Also, while yes a loss is a loss I personally do not consider our embarrassing beat down by then #14 CU the same thing as a 9-6 OT loss to the #1 team in the country.   IMO
