I stayed in St. Augustine (Atlantic) for the NU v Clemson, and Tampa for
Auburn v Northwestern. I would definitely pick Tampa over Daytona. We were
able to go to the beach and the water was tolerable. Gulf is warmer than
the Atlantic in general.

I really liked Clearwater Beach for hotels, of course if you are going with
the wife you can't beat Don Cesar A Loews Hotel. You can find internet
specials on it (don't know about during the holidays though) and is more
reasonable. A friend stayed there for a romantic getaway with the wife and
came back with a good ghost story to boot.
