I posted similar thoughts last night, but the post didn't come through for
some reason. Anyway what I said was that the lawyer isn't a very good lawyer
if he didn't know about the different programs. I had a family member that
had legal issues and between the lawyer and the councilor they had all the
programs covered.

That attorney was more creative getting free publicity than he apparently
was in serving his past clients. Of course, the circumstances for Cook
were about as mild as could be for leaving the scene --- stopped within
minutes and called 911, no drugs or alcohol, nor criminal record, minor,
appears to be a responsible student with responsible parents, etc. If
this attorney had similar clients in the past and didn't try for diversion
he "ain't too good of a lawyer" --- maybe he should think about a career
in PR.
