[Husker] Sight seeing around Madison

I live in Chicago and train in Madison quite a bit for the Ironman there.
Madison is beautiful. I was jealous of it the first time I went there after
growing up and going to school in Lincoln.

I agree Spotted Cow is a good beer so even if you don't get a chance to tour
their brewery everyone should order at least one spotted cow while there in
honor of supporting local brews. And order the fried cheese curds. You
will be glad you did. If not in Madison, definitely stop somewhere and get
some cheese curds they are everywhere along the highway.

As for a really good local brewery, right in downtown madison is the Great
Dane. Awesome atmosphere, beautiful outdoor courtyard garden, really good
food and good brews to choose from. It's across the Capitol Square from
State street. The Capitol square is really cool. It has a lot of energy and
center of downtown organized action. Every saturday morning they close it
off and have one of the biggest/nicest farmers markets you've ever seen. Get
there early to take it all in and start the day off right with a full supply
of fresh veggies. Since its a night game and any of those arriving early,
I'd suggest starting your tour on State street. It connects the main
downtown area of capitol square directly into campus. It's kind of like
downtown O street meets the Haymarket but bigger with its own style and
really cool. They don't allow much traffic other than buses and its overrun
with people. All kinds of restaurants and bars and shopping along there.

The stadium is kind of on the other side of campus from where State street
leads so as you get closer to kickoff start heading to the stadium early.
I'd give myself a couple hours and hit a couple bars on the way.

Have fun and please drink and cheer responsibly.

Don
