Re: coming to Omaha or Lincoln from the south... US-59 is definitely the
best bet; you can take that up to US-34 and then head west into Omaha (that
last stretch of I-29 is still open). I had to go from Omaha to St. Joe's and
then up to Lincoln recently, and it turned into a 4-state adventure.
Another option is to take US-36 west into Kansas, then take US-75 or US-77
north to Omaha or Lincoln.
