The NCAA has slightly modified their eligibility rules in cases like
Bubba. Basically, a player's eligibility clock starts when they either
1) enroll in a class or 2) sign a pro sports contract. So, even if
Bubba had not enrolled in school (which he did, of course), then his
clock started as soon as he signed the Royals contract. His
eligibility is up 5 years from today, barring any other changes in
NCAA regulations.

This rule applies to Bubba, and would also have affected players like
Chris Weinke and Brandon Weedn if it had been in force a few years
ago.

Bubba's gone, and he's not coming back.
