Could very well be. An awful lot we don't know. But the SEC was only going
to say one of two things:
1. Just what they said - or -
2. nothing
The SEC is not going to appear to be stealing teams from other conferences.
They don't need to, they are the freaking SEC. Everyone needs them way more
than they need anyone. They don't need anyone, and that includes OK, UT,
ND, A&M, or anyone else. Having said that, they of course are going to take
of advantage of, or create, any opportunity that arises, and adding a
premier Texas school is an opportunity. So they stated they are not
offering an invitation to A&M or anyone else at this time. But I kinda
wonder what else was said on that call like...."IF A&M states their
intention to seek conference affiliation elsewhere, and/or *applies" to
become a member of the SEC, are we all in sync to invite them to join and
approve them?" I believe the answer to that question has been confirmed,
and that it was conveyed to Texas A&M. I don't know what the answer was
though. We will know in the next few days / weeks what the answer was by
watching A&M's actions.
