Not sure how it's handled today, but I know for fact that Northwestern is on a trimester system. (my son just graduated from there.)

No clue, but I would be shocked if this is permissible by the current
y-laws.
Mike is the Husker List by-law expert and he may respond.

ndy, I'm not familiar with this. I'm know that the NCAA requires that
thletes be full-time students in good standing, but if a school goes to a
rimester type system where students have the option of going any 2 of the 3
rimesters to be considered full-time students, do NCAA regulations require
hat the student be in class during the time they are participating in
ports or something like that?

The NCAA will have to vote on that
first. I would be surprised if this was
allowed by current NCAA regulations. I also do not see the
 NCAA approving of
 it.

Slightly off topic here, but I'm not sure how many other
 folks on the list
work in higher ed, or have seen this 'proposal' at the
 University of
 Florida...

I am sure Urban Meyer is licking his chops waiting for this
 to pass...

Any chance Nebraska would consider this? To me it seems it
 would GREATLY
 benefit fall sports participants.
