I don't understand the riding of players (such as the post about Green
not hanging on to the ball) nor gratuitous slams (such as the post about
whether Green loves Nebraska enough).

One could just as well ask if fans who REALLY LOVES NEBRASKA would post
such remarks about its players. I mean really, do you have any evidence
other than your own attitudes that Cody Green is looking to transfer or
would you just love to start a rumor. If you have any evidence, then
back it up. If you don't, then I think your idle speculation stinks.

As the other post, prior to this game, Green had one irrelevant
fumble at the end of a game that had long been over, that he himself
recovered, and that would not have affected the score even if it had
not been fumbled nor even if he had not been recovered it. To this
point, Green has lost one fumble. It seems a little early to write
him off as can't "hang on to the ball" or look to seem him go somewhere
else.

They had Steve Taylor on the radio last night and he reiterated that
there can be many turns in a football season. Taylor Martinez has
looked great (despite having, what some hypercritical fan might point
out, four fumbles in a game), but he is one play or one practice from
being out for the season our out period. In fact, Green still could
be the big story for one (think, Matt Turman) or more (think Brook
Berringer) games or even for the season. The more Martinez plays in
mop-up, the more likely an injury is and the less experience his
backups get. I am not disagreeing with the coaches playing Martinez at
that point in the fourth quarter --- they clearly realize the value of
getting Green in the game as they have been doing in the first half of
every game --- and I realize the need to give a freshman reps to get
him the experience he will need in the conference play. What I don't
understand is fans turning on Green, who, I think, seems to be playing
well and seems to be handling being the backup to a freshman in a
commendable, team-spirited manner.
