I too don't want to continue the off topic posts.....But.....

I think most of the offensiveness to this type of thing depends on the
individual perspective. I would never feel comfortable to end the
National Anthem this way, but I do understand some people probably think
its a cute way to support their teams. I personally find it very
offensive when I see someone wearing shirts that are made to look like
their wearing the flag. It looks to me like desecration of the flag.
However a lot of the people that wear these shirts think they are being
more patriotic than I because they are wearing the flag.

I hope this doesn't open a whole new can of worms (or sooners). *smile*

>> Hi Paul and thank you for your post. I've been giving this some more thought. What would make it a completely different situation is if our men and women in the armed forces DID consider it offensive to sing a different word at the end of the Star Spangled Banner. That is a whole different situation. If soldiers (and I use this term to include all branches of service) considered it offensive, then it IS offensive, even if not intended to be so. If it is taken as offensive, then it IS offensive. I am originally from South Carolina and was mortified during the whole flap about flying the confederate flag from the top of the state capitol. All these people would spout on and on about how it was just part of their heritage and not "intended" to be offensive to African-Americans. It doesn't matter....it IS offensive to a very large majority of African-Americans whether intended that way or not. Same goes here. If our soldiers feel it is
