This seems like a petty gripe to me. The Sooners aren't unique in doing
this. In fact, I'm pretty sure that I've heard "Home of the Jays" at a
Creighton basketball game and "Home of the beef" at an Omaha beef
game...right here in Nebraska of all places! What's much more troubling
to me is the amount of faux-patriotism in this country after 9/11 This
writer's immature angst would be much better served volunteering for a
charity that helps military families, rather than writing a
condescending article full of misplaced angst about an issue that really
isn't affecting anyone. I guess that's the nature of sports journalism
- the writers seem to be under the false impression that people actually
value what they think beyond the gridiron.
