Callahan was right of course, but not because of this. I expect the hillbillies in Oklahoma are as patriotic and respect our soldiers just as much as the people in Nebraska or anywhere else. And the fact that some think it is fun to say "home of the Sooners" at the end of the anthem doesn't make it a big deal, despite what some anal beatwriter wants to say. In Atlanta, the crowd turns the last word of the anthem to "Braves!". In Baltimore, the crowd yells "O" (for Orioles) when the line "O say does that...", etc. There are probably lots of others. Yes, they even do it on Sept. 11, because they do it every time. It is hardly a political or patriotic statement.
But they are still hillbillies.
