[Husker] Idaho game

The trip was a blast, the only downside (and it wasn't even a big deal) was our seats were all the in the back row under the overhang and behind a pillar! But we could still see the whole field, just not the other side of the stadium & the crowd, which wasn't a big deal anyway. And I bet a lot of folks get angry having to walk up those tiny stairs to their seats!

It was neat to tailgate after the game, everyone was very friendly which is a nice change from many folks here back east who are not as engaging. The folks we met up with were friends of my buddy's who are from Kearney and stayed Saturday. It was fun to go out both nights, and we got up early to see the goings on at the Embassy Suites, where the band and mascot(s) were. Lots of tickets being sold on the streets too, so next year we may just wait until then to grab a couple.

Saturday morning was tough after spending Friday night at Lazlo's then the place (can't remember the name) where the band was made up of an older woman and 3-4 older gents who were changing the words to songs to make fun of the Idaho fans present. Maybe Sidetracks? Was a lot of fun. Went to several ATMs as I am now seeing the results on my online bank statement. Ouch. The haymarket was cool too, I wish I could have bought more food there. We walked on campus before the game and it is a nice campus, and I've seen many working in higher ed.

Saturday was fun too after the game, tailgated with folks who had about 3 or 4 big flat screen tv's hooked up to direct tv in a hollowed out old school bus and more food than I've ever seen at a game. Lazlos again for dinner, where the bartender kept putting different home brews in front of us on the house, and even a couple free long island iced teas because he knew we were from NY. Went to Brewskys after that and then downstairs there where there was a dueling piano bar, they even played a couple requests I wrote, but I hope a lot of the pictures we took there don't end up on facebook. ;-) There was also a guy there with his wife who looked EXACTLY like Charlie McBride, but I didn't want to ask him if that's who he was, they looked like they were happy not being bothered!

All in all we had a blast, spent way too much money, met a bunch of very cool people and saw a W. (Nebraska is now 6-2 when we have watched in person). We're going to Penn State next year and probably another early season home game, as this will be an every year trip now.

PS, Lazlo's had the best clam chowder I've had in ages, and I try it wherever I go and lot's of time in New England where it is world known!

Lol, it may take me a few days to 'recover' after attending my first Lincoln game. What a weekend. We have decided to turn it into a yearly event, and I am already planning next year's trip. You folks really know how to do it out there!

I think I went about $500 over 'budget' however...

Help, I have not received any e-mails concerning this game. That is really
weird. Wonder what has happened?
Roger
