I don't look for the Huskers to move much in BCS polls, I would be surprised
if the Huskers are # 11

Well, considering we beat the #6 team in the country, I could make the
argument that we deserve to move up more than we did, but then we all
know that Missouri wasn't a solid #6, and maybe a pretender to a top
ten team. Not that beating them is any less important, but taking the
Oklahoma game out of their stats, I wasn't terribly worried.
I thought we did well last year, in the rain, to control him. This
year, if we had sprained his ankle like we did last year, I don't
think they would have scored 17. Our defense was geared toward what
they ran at us. His running did the most damage to us. Sometimes
three down linemen, sometimes four, and 7 or 8 in coverage. An
occasional blitz, just to keep him unsettled back there. And that
line push, especially in the first half, was the finest defensive line
play I've seen from this team all year. Gabbert wasn't able, for much
of the game, to sit back and pick out his second and third receivers;
he was often running and throwing. He was most successful in the
third quarter when we weren't getting as good a push up the middle and
we weren't sending a 4th or 5th guy after him.
I'm quite happy with a #9/#10. I'll be interested to see the BCS, cuz
they really loved Missouri. That's gotta help us, unless the BCS
support for Missouri was a bit ephemeral too.
