[Husker] Big XII Suspends Eric Martin for Mizzou Game

"c" is by far the biggest reason this happened in my opinion, and I hope whoever the guy is that did the game is sitting in some hotel room rubbing his hands happy right now because he got his way. I thought it was ridiculous that ABC kept showing Martin & his teammates on the sidelines after this hit. OF COURSE the kid was pumped up, and this stuff happens on just about every single kickoff/punt, it just so happens someone got their bell rung and of course the network keeps the camera on the kid who did it and makes him look like a complete neanderthal when in fact it WAS a legal hit.

I was extremely pissed at ABC for doing this. I hope the kid's ok.

Do a search on YouTube and you'll be able to see it.

There's some contact of Martin's helmet with the OSU guy's chin, so yes you can see SOME helmet to helmet contact.  Mostly it's Martin's shoulder/body delivering the blow.

IMHO this would never have been an issue if:

a) the whole NFL thing last week hadn't happened
b) the Rutgers player's injury hadn't happened
c) the ESPN color commentator hadn't gone out of his way to proclaim that it was a dirty hit that should get Martin in trouble
d) Dan Beebe's didn't have a personal vendetta against "the traitors"

Seriously, does anyone have a recollection in recent memory of any college player getting suspended because of a hit?
