David, you are certainly entitled to your own opinions, some of which I happen to agree with, but you do not speak for all the fans. No one 'fan' does.

Roger...I wonder why he didn't say this before the game?
Why is it always "the fans"? Even in your post "interpreted by fans you know" sounds like a disclaimer but it isn't. "the fans are so hungry for a national championship" What? So many things have been attributed to what "the fans" think to demonstrate how unrealistic the fans are. The fans didn't rank NU in the top 10 preseason based on nothing. The fans didn't declare Nebraska is back. I'll lay out some things I think about the fans that are probably much more accurate. 1. The fans were excited and happy their team was 5-0 and ranked high, wouldn't be a fan if it were not so. 2.. The fans were not thinking about a national championship last Saturday. 3. The fans were not thinking about going undefeated all season last Saturday. 4. The fans were not thinking that we had progressed to being an elite team last Saturday. 5. The fans did not think we were the '85 Bears 6. The fans were sky high because they had been looking forward to
this game since last December; because it was payback time for all the loses to Texas; because it was payback time for all slights, real or unreal, that we imagined Texas did in Big 12 dealings; because we had a good team and a good coach; because it was in our own stadium; because our coach never mentioned we were a work in progress; because the athletic department declared a RedOutAroundTheWorld,; because the shirts, signs, wristbands, banners all said 0:01, REDemption, etc, ; because it was time for a great victory...I could go on and on.
And lastly, the fans were hugely disappointed to lose the game. That's all. The fans do not need fingers pointed at them by their coach like they had some huge, unrealistic expectations like thinking the team was the '85 Bears. The fans were not feeling sorry for themselves in the slightest and it was more than insulting to be called that by their own coach.
Whew! I'm sure I'm not ranting <smile>. And this last one is my own opinion...
The fans have a immature a**hole for a head coach.
Dave
One of the fans
Bo Pelini is a really good defensive coordinator.
David, I don't interpret the statement you say Bo made as turning on his own fans. I think it is simply a statement of fact as he perceives it....and, I agree with him. The Huskers have been rising in the polls due to the balloon that they rode after the AZ game. A sound defeat of KSU and huge rushing yards have been interpreted by fans I know as a powerful, multifaceted offense by NU.
I try to remind them that KSU had one of the poorest rushing defenses in the nation when we played them...worse after the game. TX is the best team we have played IMO. We made a huge number of mistakes and were out coached, IMO. The Huskers are a work in progress. Yet the fans are so hungry for another national championship, they view success as proof of
the Huskers return to the upper ranks in the nation. Most are looking through red-colored-glasses when they do so.
A statement that Nebraska is back has merit. We are a LONG WAY from the Callahan debacle. That doesn't have to mean that we are among the 5 best teams in the nation. I believe we can get there.
