Are you referring to Lil' Red?  Didn't he win a contest for best
school mascot?  (BTW, did you see where Ole Miss has just retired Col.
Reb?)

No, not everything Byrne did worked, a few of his coaching hires, for
example.  But his batting average was pretty doggoned good.
