Really Mike, wasn't Bill the one that tried to get rid of Herbie in favor of
that balloon thing that runs around? I think that was his worst move, but he
did get him back quick, unlike Steve.  If Steve would done that, he'd have
completely banished Herbie and not let him back, despite the overwhelming
alumni support for Herbie.  That IMHO was the difference between Steve and
Bill Byrne, Steve just didn't care what people thought.

And unlike Steve Pederson he understood what it was to build upon existing
traditions rather than try to tear them down.
