I really don't remember how long I've lurked on this list. I remember
getting more interested in Husker football after moving to Denver in
1991 (for very obvious reasons) but I don't remember the typed
play-by-play by Mike, so I must have joined the list after that ended.
At that time, I was just looking for another familiar face out there
in the sea of fair-weather Buffie fans. I remember having AOL and an
actual phone line running along the floor from the only downstairs
phone jack into the small room we used for our computer. Our kids
used to trip over it all the time (they're both in college now). But
there was a radio station from Longmont I believe that was part of the
Husker Network that I could get the games either at the house or in
the car from a high point (but no, I didn't have to drive up to the
Eisenhower Tunnel, thankfully).
I think the first sites I came across was the list and Huskerpedia. I
miss the Red Clad Loon and Colonel Mustard (or whatever his name was).
And I don't think I actually started to (I was just about to type
'contribute' but that may be a mis-characterization of what I add to
the discussions occasionally) to the list for several years, but was a
faithful reader and head-nodder. I can remember going through the
archives to catch up on what I had missed.
And I had always dreamed of going to the spring game meetings at
Mike's house, but could never afford to make the trip. I wish I had a
Netsurfers for Nebraska T-shirt, but I'm not sure how many would know
what that was these days. Nowadays, I live less than an hour from the
stadium. Life has gotten better in that regard. But its hard to
believe its been nearly 20 years.
